Steel City Ice Renegades wanted to thank Matt Miller

Thank you to Matt Miller

The Steel City Ice Renegades thank Matt Miller of American Tattoo in Verona, PA for his hard work and dedication during the design and adoption of the Steel City Ice Renegades logo. Over a three month period, and rigorous voting process, the Ice Renegades board churned through over 40 logos and logo variations. The results of the process and selection of this logo demonstrates the will as an organization to succeed and maintain its presence in Pittsburgh and our notoriety within PAHL, the Mid-Am district, associations within USA Hockey and beyond.

Thanks again to Matt and below you find a little bio from Matt as requested by the Ice Renegades that demonstrates the influence hockey can have on an individual:

My name is Matt Miller, I’m a 29 year old professional tattoo artist at American Tattoo in Verona, PA.  My father put me on ice skates at five years old, and when I turned 6 I started playing goalie. I played goalie the whole way through high school for Kiski Area. After high school, I attended Edinboro University and finished with a bachelor’s of fine arts with a concentration in graphic design, photography, and a minor in art history. I continue to play hockey on adult teams as goalie and a defenseman .

I chose this design based on the definition of a renegade. The definition reads, 1. One who rejects a religion, cause, allegiance, or group for another; a deserter 2. An outlaw or rebel. I chose to go with the second definition of the word. Vikings were explorers, warriors, merchants, and pirates who raided, traded, and explored areas of Europe, Asia, and the North Atlantic islands. They were also geographically assigned to areas like Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. These cold areas of the world helped add the “ice” to the Ice Renegades.

Thanks Again!

Matt Miller
